Grand Theft Auto VI Trailer 2
Rockstar Games released the second official trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI on May 6, 2025, roughly a year and a half after the first reveal. At two minutes and forty-seven seconds, it runs nearly twice as long as the original trailer and moves well beyond a simple tone-setting reveal, giving the clearest look yet at the story, the world, and the supporting cast surrounding Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos.
Rockstar’s own description of the trailer sums up the setup: Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them, and when an easy score goes wrong, they end up caught in a criminal conspiracy stretching across Leonida, forced to lean on each other more than ever to survive. That framing runs through the footage itself, which cuts between quieter, intimate moments between the two leads and the chaos of heists, shootouts, and car chases across the state.
The trailer also broadens the map considerably compared to the first reveal. Vice City remains the visual centerpiece, its beaches, nightlife, and waterfront neighborhoods rendered in more detail, but the footage also pushes further out into Leonida: rural towns, swampland, highways, and coastline that suggest a state built at a scale well beyond anything the series has attempted before. Alongside Jason and Lucia, the trailer offers glimpses of a wider cast pulled into their orbit, without naming most of them outright, consistent with Rockstar’s habit of revealing character details gradually through its official character pages rather than through trailers.
The response was immediate and, according to Rockstar’s own account relayed to the press, unprecedented. The studio told The Hollywood Reporter the trailer surpassed 475 million views across all platforms within 24 hours, a figure it called the biggest video launch of all time, ahead of the marketing pushes for major theatrical trailers released the same year. Independent tallies cited by outlets like VGC put the combined YouTube and X view counts lower, in the region of 190 million, a reminder that Rockstar’s own total spans platforms and a methodology it hasn’t fully disclosed.
Beyond the numbers, Trailer 2 marked the moment Grand Theft Auto VI stopped being an announcement and started being an actual game with a story, a setting, and a release trajectory, even as the exact date would shift in the months that followed. It remained, alongside the first trailer, one of only two pieces of officially released marketing footage until Rockstar returned in August 2026 with a much longer look at the game itself.
