GTA 6 Countdown: 82 Days Until Launch
Eighty-two days remain until Grand Theft Auto 6 launches on November 19, 2026. With just under twelve weeks to go, here’s where things actually stand: what Rockstar has confirmed, what’s still genuinely unknown, and the dates left on the calendar between now and launch.
What’s locked in
The release date itself isn’t in question anymore. Rockstar has confirmed November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and Take-Two reaffirmed that date on its August 7 earnings call, alongside a full-year outlook built around it. Preorders have been open since June 25, pricing is set at $79.99 for the Standard Edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition, or the euro and pound equivalents, and preload begins November 12, a week ahead of launch. For the complete rundown of platforms, editions, and pricing, see our release date guide and our breakdown of preorders and editions.
The Extended Look, which premiered on Netflix on August 27 before going live on YouTube, gave the clearest picture yet of what’s actually in the game: the returning 6-star wanted system, mid-mission switching between Jason and Lucia, a new Criminal Profile reputation system, and confirmation that the game runs at 30 fps at launch on both consoles. Read our full breakdown in our Extended Look coverage.
What’s still missing
A few genuinely important pieces haven’t been confirmed at all. There’s still no PC release date, no PC storefront, and no PC system requirements, despite plenty of speculation online. Rockstar hasn’t named a single voice actor for any character. No full radio station lineup or soundtrack tracklist exists yet, only a handful of songs identified by press in the trailers and the Extended Look. And while Rockstar told press the game runs at 30 fps at launch, whether a 60 fps performance mode arrives later, at launch, or not at all remains genuinely undecided, according to Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson himself.
What’s left on the calendar
Between now and release day, two dates stand out. Rockstar’s ongoing legal dispute with the Rockstar Game Workers Union goes to trial from September 10 to October 15, roughly a month before launch, after a UK employment tribunal ruled the union could pursue its full set of claims, including allegations of blacklisting. And then there’s preload, opening November 12, which gives console owners a full week to download the game ahead of its November 19 release, whether they bought digitally or picked up a code-in-box physical copy.
It also helps to remember what’s already behind us. Preorders opened June 25, Take-Two used its August 7 earnings call to reaffirm both the release date and its full-year outlook, and the leaks that dominated headlines in mid-August were ultimately followed, not derailed, by Rockstar’s own planned Extended Look reveal on August 27. Eighty-two days out, the launch plan looks intact.
