GTA 6 Editions Compared: Standard vs Ultimate Edition
Grand Theft Auto 6 ships in two editions on November 19, 2026: a Standard Edition and an Ultimate Edition. The price gap is fixed at $20 / €20 / £20, but the content gap is bigger than a simple markup. Here’s exactly what separates the two, what every pre-order unlocks for free, and where to buy in before the bonus deadline.

Standard vs Ultimate: what’s actually different
The Standard Edition is the base game plus the shared pre-order bonuses described below, and it’s the only version sold with a physical option, as a code in the box.
The Ultimate Edition is digital only and layers in an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and other extras that unlock in stages as you progress through Jason and Lucia’s story, rather than all at once at the start. Rockstar has described the Ultimate bonuses as spread across every part of the campaign, so owners keep discovering new items chapter by chapter instead of getting everything on day one.
| Standard Edition | Ultimate Edition | |
|---|---|---|
| Base game | Yes | Yes |
| Shared pre-order bonuses | Yes | Yes |
| 16 exclusive Ultimate items | No | Yes |
| Digital purchase | Yes | Yes |
| Physical (code in box) | Yes | No |
| Upgrade path to Ultimate | N/A | Available anytime, paid |
Pricing by region
Prices are confirmed on the PlayStation Store as of August 29, 2026, and the UK pricing is notably not a straight currency conversion, it sits below the US and eurozone price when adjusted.
Updated October 21, 2026: nothing has moved. The US PlayStation and Xbox stores still list $79.99 and $99.99, and the French PlayStation Store still lists the Standard Edition at 79.99 euros.
| Region | Standard Edition | Ultimate Edition |
|---|---|---|
| United States (USD) | $79.99 | $99.99 |
| France / eurozone (EUR) | 79.99 euros | 99.99 euros |
| United Kingdom (GBP) | 69.99 pounds | 89.99 pounds |
What’s inside the Ultimate Edition: 16 exclusive items
Rockstar’s official edition comparison lists 16 items exclusive to the Ultimate Edition, tied to specific chapters rather than handed over on day one. In summary:

Pre-order bonus: the Vintage Vice City Pack
Order before November 20, 2026, and both editions get the Vintage Vice City Pack at no extra cost. It’s built around a callback to the original Vice City: a two-tone ‘55 Vapid Stanier sedan with its own Shore Court garage near Ocean Beach, a set of decadent outfits and hairstyles for Jason and Lucia, and an exclusive weapon pattern inspired by Tommy Vercetti’s palm tree shirt. Miss the November 20 cutoff and this pack won’t be included.
Digital-only bonus: one month of GTA+
Pre-ordering digitally also adds a free month of GTA+, Rockstar’s subscription for GTA Online. That includes a recurring GTA$500,000 monthly deposit, Shark Cards with a 15% GTA$ bonus, discounted or free GTA Online vehicles, and access to a rotating library of classic Rockstar titles. This bonus is tied to digital pre-orders specifically, separate from the Vintage Vice City Pack.
Updated October 21, 2026: the store terms add two deadlines. On PlayStation, the month of GTA+ must be claimed by March 31, 2027, once per account. On Xbox, it must be redeemed within 180 days of the pre-order. The Ultimate Edition Upgrade bought on its own does not qualify.
Physical edition: no disc in the box
If you’re buying the boxed version, know this ahead of time: physical copies of GTA 6 ship with a download code only. There is no disc inside the box. Rockstar’s own listing is explicit that the physical release supports preloading starting November 12, 2026, which only works with a code, not a disc you’d insert on release day.
Updated October 21, 2026: Rockstar’s support page adds that boxes should be available for shipping and pickup from November 12, that pre-loading starts at local midnight, and that a physical pre-order includes the Vintage Vice City Pack but not the month of GTA+. PlayStation codes are region-locked to the account’s country group, so buy from a retailer in your own region; Xbox codes are not. Everything else for release week is in our launch day guide.
Where to pre-order
GTA 6 can be pre-ordered digitally through the PlayStation Store and the Xbox Store, or physically through major retailers carrying the code-in-box edition. Pricing and regional availability match the table above; check your platform’s store page for the exact listing.
The Standard-to-Ultimate upgrade is confirmed to exist and to be available at any time after purchase. Updated October 21, 2026: the US Xbox Store now lists the Grand Theft Auto VI: Ultimate Edition Upgrade at $20.00 on pre-order, the same as the gap between the two editions. The PlayStation Store lists the add-on but did not show a price on October 21, and Rockstar has not published regional upgrade prices.
Which edition should you buy?
If you mainly want to play the story once and don’t care about cosmetic extras, the Standard Edition covers everything you need, including the Vintage Vice City Pack bonus if you order in time. If you want the full roster of vehicles, weapons, and shops from day one of each unlock, and you’re buying digitally anyway, the Ultimate Edition’s $20 premium buys a meaningful amount of extra content spread across the campaign. Undecided buyers aren’t locked in either way: Rockstar allows a paid upgrade from Standard to Ultimate at any time after purchase.
