GTA 6 Launch Day: Pre-Load, Release Time, Size and Price
Grand Theft Auto VI launches on Thursday, November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Release week actually starts seven days earlier, with pre-loading. This guide gathers everything Rockstar, the PlayStation Store and the Xbox Store have published about launch week, checked on October 21, 2026, and says clearly what is still unknown.

Pre-load: November 12 at local midnight
Rockstar’s support article on platforms and editions is the clearest official source. Players who pre-order a digital version can begin pre-loading on November 12 at local midnight. The PlayStation Store labels both editions with a 7-day pre-load, which matches.
If you bought the boxed version, the same date applies. The physical Standard Edition contains a download code, not a disc, and Rockstar expects it to be available for shipping and pickup from November 12. Codes can be used as soon as they arrive, and codes redeemed before launch start pre-loading on November 12.
Two practical points from the same page:
- PlayStation codes are region-locked. A code bought in one region only works on a PlayStation account registered in that region. France sits in the “Rest of EMEA and Asia” group with most of Europe; the UK has its own. Xbox codes are not region-locked.
- Japanese codes expire 170 days after November 19, under local rules.
Pre-loading only downloads the game. You still play from the unlock time on November 19.
What time does GTA 6 unlock?
Rockstar has not published a release time. What exists is store data, and it points to a staggered launch at midnight by region.
On October 21, the French PlayStation Store listed the game at 00:00 Paris time on November 19. The US PlayStation Store and the US Xbox Store both listed 05:00 UTC on November 19, which is midnight Eastern, and 9 p.m. Pacific on Wednesday, November 18, for the West Coast.
In September, Digital Foundry relayed a wider reading of regional PlayStation Store data by the fan site GTAVice: New Zealand first, at 11:00 UTC on November 18, the UK at 00:00 UTC on November 19, and Mexico and Central America last, at 06:00 UTC on November 19.
Treat all of this as the current store setting, not a Rockstar commitment. Publishers sometimes switch to a single global unlock time close to launch. Our countdown runs to November 19, and we will update this section if Rockstar publishes times.
Download size: not published
As of October 21, neither Rockstar, the PlayStation Store nor the Xbox Store gives a download or install size for GTA VI. Figures circulating online are estimates, some of them based on leaked builds, and none of them is official. The safe move is the obvious one: clear space before November 12, and plan for a large download, plus whatever patch arrives on launch day. We will add the real size here when a store shows it.

Bonuses and their deadlines
- Vintage Vice City Pack, for both editions, digital and physical: buy before November 20, 2026. It includes the ‘55 Vapid Stanier with its garage, outfits and hairstyles, and a weapon pattern.
- One month of GTA+, digital purchases only. On PlayStation it must be claimed by March 31, 2027, once per account. On Xbox it must be redeemed within 180 days of the pre-order. Physical copies do not include it.
What the store pages also confirm
- Single-player. Both console stores describe Grand Theft Auto VI as a single-player experience. No online mode is announced for launch.
- PS5 Pro Enhanced on the PlayStation Store, and Optimized for Xbox Series X|S on Xbox. No performance targets are published.
- Languages. The Xbox Store lists English audio only, with subtitles and interface in 12 more languages, French, German, Spanish, Italian and Japanese among them.

What is NOT confirmed
- PC. Not announced. GamesBeat reported in October that a PC version is planned for the first quarter of 2027, citing four unnamed sources. Rockstar has not commented, and Xbox said the game will not stream to PC at launch. Details in our PC guide.
- A global unlock time, as explained above.
- The download size and any day-one patch.
- Frame rate and performance modes on each console.
- Any online mode at launch. Bloomberg reported on October 14 that an online component is expected in 2027. That is reporting, not an announcement.
