Is GTA 6 Coming to PC? Everything Rockstar Has Said
The single most searched question about Grand Theft Auto 6 that Rockstar has not answered is whether it is coming to PC. The honest answer is short, and the pages that pad it out with predicted dates are the ones to be careful with.
What Rockstar has actually said
Grand Theft Auto 6 releases on November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. That is the entirety of the platform commitment.
PC is not on the official game page. It is not in the pre-order pages that opened on June 25, and it is not in the two editions Rockstar detailed. Rockstar has not said a PC version is coming, has not said one is not coming, and has not been asked in any interview it has published an answer to.
Absence of an announcement is not a denial. It is also not a date.
Updated October 21, 2026: five weeks from launch, none of that has changed. The launch trailer of October 15 names PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only, and so do the ESRB rating and the store listings.
What the previous games did
Rockstar has brought every recent title to PC eventually, always after the console release, and never with the gap announced in advance.
| Game | Console release | PC release | Gap |
|---|---|---|---|
| GTA IV | April 2008 | December 2008 | about 7 months |
| Red Dead Redemption 2 | October 2018 | November 2019 | about 12 months |
| GTA V | September 2013 | April 2015 | about 19 months |
Three releases over eleven years, with a gap that ranges from seven months to more than a year and a half. That is enough to say a PC version is likely and nowhere near enough to say when. Anyone converting this table into “GTA 6 PC in [month]” is doing arithmetic on three numbers and calling it news.
Worth noting on GTA V: the nineteen-month figure is measured from the original PS3 and Xbox 360 release. The PS4 and Xbox One versions arrived in November 2014, five months before PC. A game with a long console tail can stretch the wait considerably.
What would actually signal a PC version
There are a handful of things that tend to appear before a Rockstar PC release, and none of them have:
- A store page. Steam, the Epic Games Store or the Rockstar Store listing the PC edition, even without a date.
- A rating board entry. PC SKUs get submitted to the ESRB, PEGI and others, and those databases are public. Updated October 21, 2026: the ESRB entry that appeared in early October lists PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series only.
- Language in Take-Two’s earnings calls. The publisher discusses platform strategy with investors, and a PC release is material enough to surface there. At the September 17 annual meeting, Strauss Zelnick only said PC keeps growing in importance for the company. Take-Two’s next quarterly results are the next opportunity.
- System requirements. These land close to the date, not before it.
When one of those appears, it is news. Until then, a prediction is a prediction.
The October reports
Updated October 21, 2026: two stories moved in October. Neither came from Rockstar.
- The streaming idea, denied. On October 6, The Verge reported that Xbox had secured exclusive rights to stream GTA 6, which would have meant playing it on a PC through Xbox Cloud Gaming. Xbox’s chief strategy officer Matthew Ball replied on X that the game launches on Xbox on November 19 but will not be streaming exclusively or to PC, as PC Gamer reported.
- Early 2027, reported. On October 13, GamesBeat reported, citing four sources familiar with Rockstar’s plans, that the PC version is planned for the first quarter of 2027, as relayed by VGC and Kotaku. Rockstar and Take-Two have not commented. If it holds, PC players would wait four months at most, far less than any gap in the table above.
That second report is the most specific claim yet, from a named outlet with multiple sources. It is still a report. Everything in our launch day guide for the consoles is confirmed; the PC date is not.
The part that matters more than the date
There is no GTA 6 PC build in existence outside Rockstar. No beta, no early access, no press build, no leaked playable version.
That means every result promising a GTA 6 PC download, a crack, a beta key or a pre-order today is one of three things: a survey scam that harvests your details, an ad-revenue trap, or malware. This category of search is heavily targeted precisely because the demand is enormous and the supply is zero.
If a page asks you to complete an offer, disable your antivirus, or download an installer to “unlock” GTA 6 on PC, close it.
Where this stands
A PC version is likely, on the strength of Rockstar’s own track record, and an October report puts it in early 2027. It is not announced, not dated, and not orderable. We will update this page the day any of that changes, and not before.
For what is confirmed, the release date guide tracks every dated commitment Rockstar has made, and the editions guide covers what the two console versions actually contain.
Frequently asked questions
Is GTA 6 coming to PC?
Rockstar has not announced a PC version. Grand Theft Auto 6 launches November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only. As of October 21, 2026, PC does not appear on the official game page, the store listings, the pre-order pages or the ESRB rating, which covers PS5 and Xbox Series only.
When will GTA 6 come out on PC?
There is no official date. GamesBeat reported on October 13, 2026, citing four unnamed sources, that a PC version is planned for the first quarter of 2027. Rockstar and Take-Two have not commented. Rockstar's recent games reached PC between seven and nineteen months after their console release, so early 2027 would be its fastest port yet.
Can I pre-order GTA 6 on Steam or the Epic Games Store?
No. There is no GTA 6 PC store page anywhere. Any site offering a PC pre-order, download, beta key or early access is a scam, and often a malware delivery mechanism.
Can I stream GTA 6 to a PC through Xbox Cloud Gaming at launch?
No. After a report in early October 2026 suggested Xbox had secured streaming rights, Xbox's chief strategy officer Matthew Ball said the game will launch on Xbox on November 19 but will not be streaming exclusively or to PC.
How long did previous Rockstar games take to reach PC?
GTA IV took about seven months, Red Dead Redemption 2 about twelve, and GTA V about nineteen. Three data points across eleven years is a pattern, not a promise.
