GTA 6 Launch Trailer: What Rockstar Showed and Confirmed

By ALLGTA World Staff · October 15, 2026

Rockstar released the Grand Theft Auto VI Launch Trailer on October 15 at 9 a.m. Eastern, five weeks before the game ships on November 19. It runs 1:29, it was captured entirely in-game on a PlayStation 5, and it debuts Flower in a Hurricane, a new single by Justice featuring Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. Here is what the Newswire confirms, what the footage shows, and what is still missing.

Confirmed: the Newswire post

Rockstar’s post, titled Watch the Grand Theft Auto VI Launch Trailer, is short and says four things.

  • Justice scored the game. Rockstar calls the French electronic duo the composers of Grand Theft Auto VI’s original score.
  • The single is real and out now. Flower in a Hurricane is a standalone Justice track and also sits on Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, the 34-track soundtrack announced on September 17, which is out November 19 and can be pre-saved or pre-ordered on vinyl and CD.
  • More music news is coming. Rockstar says to expect more on the game’s music, including the official score album.
  • The date holds. Grand Theft Auto VI arrives November 19 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The YouTube description adds that the footage was captured entirely in-game from a PS5, the same wording Rockstar used for the Extended Look. The official site badges the game “Plays Best On PS5” and now carries the ESRB Mature 17+ rating in its footer.

A different kind of trailer

The first two trailers were cut to licensed songs, Tom Petty’s Love Is a Long Road and The Pointer Sisters’ Hot Together. This one runs on original music written for the game, and that shifts the tone. PC Gamer described it as more restrained and more focused on character than earlier footage, and that matches the edit: fewer set pieces, more of Jason and Lucia together.

It is also not called Trailer 3. Rockstar’s video page now lists four main videos, Trailer 1, Trailer 2, An Extended Look and the Launch Trailer, and this one is the shortest of them.

What the footage shows

These are observations from the video, reported by GameSpot, Kotaku, Dexerto and Digital Foundry, not features Rockstar has described in writing.

  • Jason and Lucia, up close. An intimate shower scene between the two leads, in which Lucia wears an ankle monitor. GameSpot reads it, with other shots, as a sign that her story starts in prison or on supervised release. Rockstar’s own profile already says she was locked up in the Leonida Penitentiary.
  • Jason’s Army past. A night-time sequence in the swamps with Jason in night-vision goggles, which fits the military background in his official bio.
  • Heists from the air. Dexerto spotted a helicopter carrying a section of a bank vault through the city, extending a mission glimpsed in the Extended Look.
  • Vice City details. Packed beaches, a low-flying plane advertising what sounds like a crypto coin, a dog in goggles, a sign for The Keys and an in-game controller that looks like a DualSense.
  • Wildlife. Digital Foundry singled out the detailed iguana in the opening seconds, a reminder of the 170-plus species Game Informer reported in September.

The tech read

Digital Foundry’s October 16 analysis found the same 1440p internal resolution, upscaled to 4K, as the Extended Look. The better news is what it did not find: the camera and animation judder that has followed Rockstar’s engine since GTA 4 seems to be gone, at least in this edit. Our 30fps and PS5 Pro guide tracks what is measured and what is not.

What it does not tell you

Rockstar’s post names no new character and explains no mission. The trailer gives no unlock time, no download size and no word on PC. Rockstar’s support pages already confirm that pre-loading opens at local midnight on November 12; our launch day guide gathers everything that is official for release week.

The main YouTube upload passed 57 million views by October 21. You can rewatch it on our launch trailer video page, next to every other official video.
