GTA 5 100% Completion Checklist: Everything That Counts

By ALLGTA World Staff · September 30, 2026

To reach 100% completion in GTA 5 you need 161 items across five categories: all 69 story missions, 20 of Franklin’s Strangers and Freaks missions, any 14 random events, 42 of the 61 hobbies and pastimes, and 16 miscellaneous tasks. Only two sets of collectibles are required in full, the 50 Spaceship Parts and the 50 Letter Scraps. Nothing added in the enhanced editions, peyote plants included, counts toward the total.

The five categories and their weight

CategoryWhat you needShare of the 100%
Story missionsAll 69About half or a little more: guides give 50% to 55%
Strangers and Freaks20 of Franklin’s missions10%, at 0.5% per mission
Hobbies and pastimes42 of 6110%
Random eventsAny 14Guides disagree: from 5% to 15%
Miscellaneous16 tasksGuides disagree: from 10% to 20%

Rockstar has never published the weighting. The 10% for Strangers and Freaks follows from GTA Wiki’s figure of 0.5% per mission. Guide sites agree on the hobbies too, but split the remaining share between random events and miscellaneous tasks in different ways, so use the counts, not the percentages, to track your progress.

Story missions

All 69, from the Prologue to whichever ending you pick. According to GTA Wiki, the 69 include Lester’s five assassination missions for Franklin, and it pays to leave four of them until after The Big Score: our guide to making money in story mode explains why. The mission-by-mission list is in our full GTA 5 missions guide.

Strangers and Freaks: the 20 that count

Only Franklin’s missions count. Some links in each chain must be played but add nothing, so here are the ones that move the counter.

CharacterMissions that count
Tonya WigginsPulling Favors, Pulling Another Favor, Pulling Favors Again, Still Pulling Favors, Pulling One Last Favor
Beverly FeltonPaparazzo: The Sex Tape, The Partnership, The Meltdown, Reality Check
Dom BeasleyRisk Assessment, Liquidity Risk, Targeted Risk, Uncalculated Risk

OmegaFar Out, The Final Frontier
Peter DreyfussA Starlet in Vinewood

Mary-Ann QuinnExercising Demons: Franklin

Three of them are gated: The Final Frontier needs all 50 Spaceship Parts, A Starlet in Vinewood needs all 50 Letter Scraps, and Uncalculated Risk needs all 13 parachute jumps.

Hobbies and pastimes: 42 of 61

The checklist wants 42 from this pool:

  • The 18 Ammu-Nation shooting range challenges, bronze or better
  • Nine holes of golf, finished at par or better
  • A game of tennis and a game of darts, won
  • The 3 triathlons, third place or better
  • The 5 street races, the 6 off-road races and the 4 sea races, third place or better
  • The 12 Flight School lessons, bronze or better
  • The 13 parachute jumps, 7 from a helicopter and 6 base jumps
  • A private dance at the Vanilla Unicorn

Random events: any 14

Random events are the unscripted encounters that pop up as you travel around, such as a bike thief to chase down or a security van to rob. There are 57 in the game, 60 for returning players on the enhanced versions, and any 14 will do. Two of them also unlock heist crew members, Taliana Martinez and Packie McReary.

Miscellaneous: the 16 tasks

  • Buy 5 properties (the Vanilla Unicorn does not count)
  • Buy a vehicle from an in-game website
  • Collect all 50 Spaceship Parts
  • Collect all 50 Letter Scraps
  • Walk Chop and play fetch
  • Complete a booty call
  • Pay for a prostitute’s service
  • Hold up a store
  • Complete 25 of the 50 Under the Bridge flights
  • Complete 8 of the 15 Knife Flights
  • Complete 25 of the 50 stunt jumps
  • Visit the cinema
  • Four friend activities: a bar, a movie, the strip club and darts

Spaceship Parts become available once Franklin starts Omega’s mission Far Out. Letter Scraps can be picked up by all three characters after Repossession, and Chop can sniff out the nearest one when Franklin walks him.

The rewards

  • The Career Criminal achievement or trophy
  • UFOs above Mount Chiliad, Fort Zancudo and Sandy Shores. They can take a while to show up, so play on for a bit if you do not see them at once. See Mount Chiliad on our 3D map.
  • An orange 100% T-shirt in Franklin’s wardrobe
  • The Last One, a final Strangers and Freaks mission for Franklin. On the enhanced versions, finishing it and finding all 27 peyote plants spawns a golden peyote, covered in our GTA 5 peyote plants guide.

Tips before you start

  • Nothing required is lost at the ending. Michael’s and Trevor’s side content does not count, so whichever of the three endings you choose, 100% stays reachable.
  • Cheats will not ruin your save, but they switch off achievements and trophies for the rest of that session, according to Rockstar Support. Our GTA 5 cheats list has the codes.
  • Buy your five properties early. The cheapest, The Hen House in Paleto Bay, costs $80,000, and most of them pay out every week while you work through the rest.
  • Knock out hobbies in batches. The shooting range (18 challenges), Flight School (12 lessons) and the parachute jumps (13) are the biggest chunks of the pool, and you need the jumps anyway for Uncalculated Risk.

Frequently asked questions

What do you get for 100% completion in GTA 5?

The Career Criminal achievement or trophy, UFOs over Mount Chiliad, Fort Zancudo and Sandy Shores, an orange 100% T-shirt in Franklin's wardrobe, and a new Strangers and Freaks mission, The Last One.

Do you need every collectible for 100% in GTA 5?

No. Only the 50 Spaceship Parts and the 50 Letter Scraps are required in full. Under the Bridge flights, Knife Flights and stunt jumps only need about half, and Submarine Pieces, Nuclear Waste, Epsilon Tracts and the enhanced-edition collectibles do not count at all.

Do Michael's and Trevor's Strangers and Freaks count toward 100%?

No. Only Franklin's Strangers and Freaks missions count, and only 20 of them add to the percentage. Michael's and Trevor's can be skipped.

Can you get 100% after finishing the story?

Yes. Everything on the checklist can be done after the final mission, whichever ending you chose, because none of the required side content belongs to Michael or Trevor.
